We fundraise to keep our company growing and dancing!

Our Mission: Providing a platform where performers and audiences of all ages are inspired to celebrate the techniques, creative powers and fusion of dance movement.

Our Vision: A world where the primary impulse to move is honored and nurtured.

Beckles Dancing Company has been an active and present company in our community for over 29 years and has made a vital and lasting contribution as a company. Our company, housed in the South Dallas Cultural Center (SDCC), has produced works in our area that have been critically reviewed and featured in publications as artists and companies in the Dallas area.

BDC has also been important in the training of successful dancers, including Layla Brent, who is on tour with The Lion King and Jared Brown who is performing in Europe. We have also successfully produced the South Dallas Dance Festival (SDDF), formerly known as the South Dallas Dance Festival for over 19 years. This festival has created a space for local artists to display unique works, to inspire varied audiences in our greater Dallas region. The SDDF funds the South Dallas Dance Festival Scholarship through the Dance Council of North Texas and is awarded to a student of color to provide financial support for their summer dance training and studies.

The current Beckles Dancing Company ranges in age from 22-52 years old. Our success has been weaving this age gap into a powerful ensemble of artists. Our live performances this past year have been, South Dallas Dance Festival, Shades of Black for Black History Month, Dance Planet with the Dance Council of North Texas, First Draft with Over the Bridge Arts, Dance Planet, numerous CAP (Community Artist Program) and our annual Spring Show. We also provide free zoom and in-person classes, BALLET and MODERN on Wednesday and Friday that are open to the community.
